Above all else, love

When you become a parent for the first time, you wonder how can I possibly love another person this much? And so, when you consider having another child, there is that natural fear that thinks how could I possibly love another child as much as I love this one?

But, as it turns out, your heart doesn’t have a finite amount of love in it. The more love that you feel, the more love that you have. The more love that you show to others, the more love you have to give. That’s true with your children certainly. But it’s also true with others. Those that you know, and those that you don’t. Those that the world may deem as worthy, and those that the world may deem less than.

As was preached in church this morning, make your table bigger and make your circle wider. There’s room enough for all of God’s children at the table and in the circle.  And there’s enough love to share with all of them. Especially those that the world may say are not deserving of it.

34 “Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who will receive good things from my Father. Inherit the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world began. 35 I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. 36 I was naked and you gave me clothes to wear. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me. 37 “Then those who are righteous will reply to him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?38 When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you, or naked and give you clothes to wear? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? Then the king will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:34-40‬ ‭CEB‬‬

Feed my sheep

They come before me each day, the parents, and children. Frightened, ashamed, angry, or sad; sometimes all of the above all at the same time...
